The goal of the project was to rebrand a startup organization that I was a part of during my time at Michigan State University.
My Contributions
I was the only designer on the project so everything you see I created myself. I was involved in everything from defining the brand, creating the flows and wireframes, all the way to creating the final UI designs as well as designing the logo.
The Basics
I started defining the brand and it's target audience. This was a new company and their values were centered around fast and speedy multimedia services for clients, hence the name Rapid. This piece of information drove the majority of design decisions throughout the rest of the project.
Defining the flow
After that, I proceeded with creating a flowchart showing how the website would be organized.
After defining the flow and various sub screens, I continued by creating the wireframes to explore the user experience in more detail on a screen-by-screen basis. The main concern here was the portfolio section, which needed to be easy to browse.
Logo Exploration
I explored a bunch of different options and narrowed it down to a few and presented them-- all inspired by their values centered around fast and creative services.
Final Logo
Option 3 was chosen so I proceeded with refining it. During this phase I presented a few different color options. The red was chosen because the color and font communicated "fast" and the droplet correlation with paint communicated "creative".
Integrating the brand
Next I designed the overall look of the website. I applied the theme of the logo to a few different landing page mockups.
Final UI
After a landing page design was chosen, I created the rest of the pages.
